Lent is the season for getting ready for the miracle of Easter. In Lent, we take on practices that bring us closer to God and give up things that pull us away from God. This year, the FISH community will focus on growing closer to God by being better Bible readers, better prayers, and better helpers of others. Choose a children's Bible to help you read the stories at home, and pick up a mite box for our offering for Haiti. And don't forget to bring canned food for AFAC every Sunday!
Read it.Jesus compares God's love to water, because the woman he met at the well would understand how precious water is. She would remember the story of God giving water to the people following Moses through the desert. The water of Baptism is a sign for what God is doing: washing us clean, making us part of him, and promising us life in heaven.
Count it.Count every bottle of medicine in your home.
Discuss it.40% of Haitians lack access to health care. Only 36% of births take place in a health facility. Only 25% of children 12-23 months of age have been fully vaccinated.
Pray about it.Thank God for all of your doctors, your school nurse, and all the people who take care of your health. Place a coin in your mite box for each person or facility you name. Pray for God's kingdom of health and life to come to Haiti.
