Lent is the season for getting ready for the miracle of Easter. In Lent, we take on practices that bring us closer to God and give up things that pull us away from God. This year, we will focus on growing closer to God by being better Bible readers, better prayers, and better helpers of others. Come to church on Ash Wednesday at noon or at 6pm (Family Service) to be part of the ancient ritual of wearing ashes, and to be fed for the Lenten journey at our Holy Table. Choose a children's Bible to help you read the stories at home, and pick up a mite box for our offering for Haiti. And don't forget to bring canned food for AFAC every Sunday! Read it.This past Sunday's Gospel story is the story of Jesus' temptation in the wilderness. Jesus said "no" to doing things his way and "yes" to doing things God's way. When we read the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden, we see that God gives people choices. But we don't always choose to do things God's way. Jesus shows us that God is always ready to forgive.

Count it.Count how many different kinds of fruit and vegetables there are in your refrigerator.

Discuss it.In some areas of Haiti, up to 30% of children suffer from chronic malnutrition.
|
Pray about it.Thank God for your food, for your markets, and for your abundance. Pray for those who do not have enough to eat. Place a coin in your mite box for each thanksgiving.
